or WarJet, DeathJet, CurbstompJet, whatever.....
anyhow I haven't posted on the boards before but I'm a diehard BKP fan, have them in most of my guitars--mother's milks, missisippi queens, mules, and now these! (with some Stormy Mondays for my 335 as soon as I can make it happen)
but this is what brings me here... I've got an extremely kickass Grosh ElectraJet HH-- pretty mellow PAF style humbuckers, perfectly nice but honestly this guitar begs for something hotter. this guitar was BUILT for lower mids--PAFs just don't really bring out that quality to the extent they should, which is probably why the P-90s are stock.
BUT.... pickups can be changed
So, here it is in its original beauty-

And now with a ceramic Aftermath bridge and alnico Cold Sweat neck-

I love how the black CS makes it look like a single PUP guitar from a distance, and what a striking single pickup it would be-

The sound? Well... do you really have to ask?
I'm actually very surprised with the versatility of this combo too--I can drive my Matamp harder than ever before, but the coil taps sound great and even in full humbucking modes the clarity and beauty of the guitar shines through.....just with some extra teeth. Just playing it in drop D at the moment but I think I'm gonna put some heavy strings on it, bring it down to C, and re-intonate from there.... maybe a trem-stop for heavy riffing. I love the EJ trem--but I actually have another one, so turning this one into a pseudo-hardtail has some appeal :D
anyhow just thought I'd share. Of all my BKP renovations I think this one is the most exciting. Its definitely transformed the guitar from a really really great guitar to an absolute monster.
Its funny, I play a lot more droney stuff with my Matamp but this has me pulling off some finger gymnastics I'm not even sure I was capable of. I'm dieing to play it through a more modern gain machine now! You're bringing me over to the dark side, BKP.... and I love it! 8)
