Well, I actually don't know whether you're right or wrong, and I'd really like to know for sure (Tim, if you read this... ;))
Well, it would make sense - I believe there used to just be two Blackguard sets, so perhaps it was when Tim expanded it to four that he separated the '50 and '52 sets and gave them their historically accurate matching pairs.
FWIW, I realised I misread your post from before: I understood you to mean that recently Tim had started pairing the Flat '50 bridge with the '52 neck instead of its matching pickup. Now I know you meant the opposite it all makes a lot more sense!
