Some of you may have noticed my recent deliberations on new pickups and thanks to your input and the new website I'virtually made up my mind now. The bridge pickup is going to be a Nailbomb. I decided that the Warpig was a bit too much and I wanted something a touch tighter than the HD so the NB seemed the ideal compromise and I liked all the new clips. The A-Bomb seems a bit more versatile and organic while the C-Bomb seems a bit tighter so I initially thought about either getting an open poled A-Bomb to keep it as tight as possible or a covered C-Bomb to round off the edges a touch. Now you may well tell me that doing that, there won't be dime's worth of difference between them, in which case I'll go ceramic because I really fancy a burnt chrome cover. However, another possibility occurred to me:
My understanding is that a cover on the A-Bomb will make it a bit looser, which I don't want, but Tim partly recovers that through a slight change to the wind so could I recover the rest of that tightness by also fitting allen screws instead of conventional screws? I don't mean DSP unless you think it would be better, as that may give it too much bass; just a single row of allen screws as I read on the forum that "Allen bolts provide a bit more precise magnetic field than regular screws, giving a more focused sound (I think it makes things a bit tighter), and a slightly increased high and low end, plus a bit more attack." As my guitar is naturally middy anyway, lifting the bass and treble a touch while tightening it up to compensate for the cover seems like a logical move or am I talking out of my backside as usual?
(I'm going to use Sinners in the neck and middle BTW)
