Loose tailpiece bushings - repair advice please!

I've noticed that the bushings for the wraparound bridge/tailpiece of one of my Juniors look a bit loose.  There's a slight gap at the back of each hole, presumably because the string tension is pulling them forward in the fairly soft Far Eastern mahogany-equivalent.  I haven't tried actually pulling them out yet.

It's not really bad, I don't think the holes need plugging and re-drilling, but what's a good way to fix it?  I have loads of spare bushings from TonePros studs etc, so I may be able to find some which are a tighter fit.  Failing that, is glue a good idea or a no-no?  And presumably longer bushings would be sturdier than short ones?

at this early stage i would go for some normal woodglue like titebond original.

because its waterbased it will swell the wood slightly and set-everything in place, but wont form a strong bond with the metal - they can still be removed relatively easily by heating the stud first

longer bushing with a tighter fit isnt a bad idea if you have them.

there are things you can do with superglue or epoxy  to firm up the wood, but they are a bit more risky - cant really damage anything with a waterbased wood glue

As Mr V has done  :) .... thanks for the advice Wez.  Good point about the superglue, it can be useful as a wood hardener, I sometimes put it in screw holes to stop them stripping.  But I'll try replacing the bushings first.

Another thought is that the Tonepros ones with the separate top may serve you well as they would clamp down hard on the tailpiece & stop the wraparound from tipping forward and adding more leverage to the posts

Thanks Jon,  I am planning to use some TonePros studs (I have lots of spare sets, which, as usual, I haven't got round to using!).

I may also use some Faber spacer rings between the studs and the body, to minimise the forward tilt as much as possible!
