Alpha pots are actually great in my opinion.

I used them in my amp build and also effects pedal builds.

Not only do they fit almost everything i also find the feel of them to be a lot smoother and easier than a lot of other pots.

Also another bonus is that they are also cheap which i believe is the  main reason that people look down on them

Ta, I might give Alpha a try.

I like the CGE pots WD used to sell - they're US-fit but nowhere near as stiff to use as CTS.  They only seem to have them in weird values like 25k and 50k now though.
