actually i do remember seeing the dc now but i never played it. it's about £100 or so more expensive i think. basically it's an upgraded version of the melody maker. having said that i cant see much difference besides the extra pickup and scratch plate so it may just be better to stick with the melody maker.

just ordered my BKP-92 with tap to switch between sounds of the '92 and a more '90ish sound.

Did n't realise that the BKP-92 could be tapped. Presumably Tim is supplying it as a 4 conductor so you can change the number of windings in use. I would be interested in that if I get a P90 equiped guitar.

Pete Townsend used a P90 SG for a long time - so perhaps a Who track might be a suggestion.

ok sure. yer the tap feature is really cool, especially as on my guitar i only have one pickup. it means i'll be able to switch from a fat sound for chords to a tone with a bit more edge/cut for riffs, leads e.t.c.

i got the idea form philking who had the same thing done with MQ's and another pickup that i cant remember. he had the coil tap to reduce the mid's in one of them. pretty nifty idea and it doesn't cost any extra which is great.

yer that's what i thought. yer the differences i noticed that were of any interest were:

two pickups on the dc
different neck wood on the dc
slight different heal (i dont even knwo what that means lol)

apart from that they are virtually identical. so whether you really care about a neck pickup then i would say the melody maker is the better option

I would like to hear some Green Day from that BKP92.

Billy Joe has a great tone coming from his P90 equipped guitars.

ok i didn't realise there were this many people interested in the p-90's. i'll try to do most of the stuff everyones asked for:

some greenday.
pete townsend.
beatles.
hendrix.
maybe some zappa

baring in mind that the more requests there are the shorter the clips will be for each one.

after i've posted the files if anyone wants anything more specific i'll be glad to record something personally for them.

oh and to floyd pepper- i guess the choice between the dc and the melody maker really depends how much your rely upon a neck pickup.

another thing i've just remembered is that i actually tried the dc faded on a vox ac30 (way more expensive amp than my £170 crate gt65). i tried a gibson SG (same price as the dc) and a schecter. out of the three the dc was definately my favourite but it really wasn't a huge leap up from the melody maker from what i remember. i mean it's hard to say because of the huge difference in amp quality but i dont't think it was £100 worth of extra guitar, if you got the mm you could get a BKP as well with the money you save!!!

and personally i love the spartan look of the MM- it's sooo dull and boring that it's actually really interesting and different (if you catch my drift).

sorry to drag on- final summary:
if your willing to spend £100 or so extra for a scratchplate and a second pickup then sure go for the dc. but if you just want virtually the same sound (ok with slight restrictions because of jsut the one pickup) for a considerable amount cheaper then go with the MM. Of course the best thing to do though is try them both somewhere- on the same amp preferably. oh and im only 14 and not the most experienced guitarist in the world so my opinion is basically worthless!
