the pickups that are normally suggested for being "metal" but doing cleans too are nailbombs.

However (i hope he won't mind me mentioning) MDV just got a miracle man recently, and said its cleans were, and i  quote (i think!) "the best cleans he'd ever heard in a ceramic pickup"- and i believe him. I also think the miracle man would get you closest to those BFMV and trivium tones- tight as *£$&, in other words.

Another option would be to get a MM for the bridge, and get a cleaner pickup for the neck- something like a mule or whatever- but I wouldn't do this without talking to Tim first, since the BK guys always suggest going for a calibrated set, unless you chat with them first (I'd recommend it, they sure as hell know their pickups better than I do!).

Hope that helped!

EDIT:^ yeah, you need to tell us what guitar you have, what amp, and what pickups it's routed for!    I just assumed double humbucker!

Im guessing humbuckers due to the type of music he plays, those bands all use humbuckers I thinkl I'm gonna say either Nailbombs or maybe even Crawlers.

i'm inclined to say warpigs, they certainly have the palm-muted chug thing going on and they clean up very well indeed beacuse of the alnico5 magnets. might be a bit OTT in a mahogany bodied guitar like a les paul though, but then again it might be fine.

I think i've heard both steve mr pig2u and tim both recommending the MM for metalcore tones...

and it makes sense to me, most of those bands have a really tight sound, which (to me) means miracle man.

I'd go for the Miracle man set, they sit really well in Les paul style guitars and you can't get a better plam muted sound! the cleans are not bad, I dont have a problem with them, but they wont be quite so organic as say the Nailbomb. But you will loose the ultra tightness in the bass. Oh, and yes, they handle de-tuning with no problems.

from the bands he mentioned, and cause he wants good cleans, I would have said a warpig.

well, having not tried either, but going from what i've heard from people who've tried/owned both, and my own general understanding of pickup components:

Warpig is alnico V. This makes it sound organic. Better cleans than the MM. More gain (MM is still super heavy, though). Not as tight.

MM: ceramic, so very tight. Not as organic sounding, so not as good cleans (still excellent for ceramic). Excellent lead tone (from what i hear, better lead tone than the warpig). More built for shredding than the warpig.

Both are excellent, basically, from what I hear, they're just slightly different. Again, from the bands you've described, I'd say you want the Miracle Man. All those bands are tight, and use EMG's (well, chimaira do (i think), Matt from trivium does, and BFMV sound like they do), and the MM is closest to this sound in the BK lineup, as far as i know.
