Which neck BKP would sit well with a bridge holy diver
« on: June 06, 2011, 11:55:10 PM »
Thinking about putting my Holy Diver back in my strat. Its a black fender USA strat with a maple neck an i loved it in there before. I had it in a black scratchplate with a single volume in it an ended up taking it out because i thought it looked odd. That plate has been in my homebuilt frankenstrat for a while but i realise the Holy Diver deserves a better sounding guitar. :P

I think I'm going to put the HD in a white scratchplate with volume/tone/tone 3 way selector setup to keep it looking stock but with 2 black humbuckers. I have the bridge pup but wondered what suggestions people may have for a complimentary neck. I know HD neck pups are supposed to be good but I though I might like to have a neck pup with a different but complimentary flavour.

Also.. Do you know if my HD which has a non coiltap braided 2 wire connection could be retrofitted for a coil tap without too much messing about?

Today I'm going to order the parts I'll need.

Is 3x 500k cts medium shaft audio taper pots correct for what I intend to do?
I also understand I'll need two caps for the tone pots. What rating caps do you guys recommend?

I have many BKP neck humbuckers, so I would reccomend to you, Holydiver, Coldsweat, VHII or Nailbomb I'm sure that any one of these will sit well with your HD bridge! and they are all great sounding pickups, have a listen to the sound clips this may also help.

I'm kind of drawn to the cold sweat. is it not odd to have a neck ceramic and an alnico bridge? I always though it usually went the other way around.

Yes, you can send it back to BKP and they'll fit a four-conductor cable.  Not sure what it costs, but it isn't much.
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

oh yeah. Lol. The opening description on the site makes it look like it's ceramic. That will teach me not to skim the description. Hehe.

The CS is great, but why not a calibrated HD-set, you can't go wrong with it.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I agree, I don't know why people fear having a HD neck, it's a beautiful pickup! fat, musical, clear, versatile! I prefer it over the CS neck.
c-bomb bridge, cs neck, HD set, MM set, PK set, Alnico BH set

Its really just because i want to try the different BKP flavours without buying more guitars lol. I want to explore different kinds of pickups because there isnt a particular one I'm aiming for. I just dont want them mismatched.

I've just moved my Warpigs into my Ibanez. I wasnt really happy with the Ibanez actives that were in it. Chuffed with it so far although they sound a little brash. I'm past caring about the flakey paint.

Just got a message back from Tim that said I could go with the Cold Sweats without fear :)
