Holydiver or VHII neck?
« on: July 03, 2011, 10:37:58 PM »
I want to replace the mule in my Les Paul...I need something a bit more clear with more bite. Maybe its the Alnico IV mag i don't like?

I want a nice fluid and cutting lead tone and nice cleans as well. The mule sounds awful for leads. It sounds really compressed, I want something a bit more open. Thanks guys

VHII sounds like the ticket - it's more single coil like than the HD.

You could also add the Riffraff to the list, it will be more cutting than the VHII or HD!

You could ask Tim about replacing the AIV with an AV magnet! I don't know how close this gets it to the RR, however I had the same problem as you and changed the magnet and it did open up the sound much more to my liking!

I think the RiffRaff is basically a Mule AV, at least very close.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
