Yup, new glockenspiel day  (well it was Saturday really) 8)

In a quest to find an interesting way to expand the sound of my new three piece band I've bought a glock.  We tried it out yesterday at rehearsals & the drummer is a natural, he managing to incorporate it in to his kit canny well.

I must admit I didn't really have high hopes about it...  what with him being a drummer.  I guess I'll have to start calling him a percussionist now.

 Superb...

You do realise that you and the other "musician" in the band are now going to have to develop a sense of rhythm or he's gonna start getting over-smug...

That's ok, it's easy enough to confuse him by playing a riff that doesn't repeat after 4 bars...  so I think I'm safe for now.

Nice glock, personally I prefer the Glock 21 with its caliber of .45 auto ammunition which makes it superior to the 9mm Glock 17, especially due to the amount of Russian body armour appearing on the black market these days... oh... wait, wrong forum.

Why do percussionists play glockenspiels? I mean it does pitch so it's like a piano just you wack it with a stick.

I think it's them feel better about themselves   Actually come to think of it pianos are classed as tuned percussion too (because they have mallets hitting strings I think).

Funny you should say that...  During the rehearsal we had to mic it up because it wasn't cutting through as much as we'd hope.  So we start wondering about adding piezo pickups to it  8)

yeah that's basically it. i preferred piano as i can control my fingers better than sticks, but i mean it doesn't sound anything like a piano...

dance of the sugar plum fairy wouldn't really be the same without one...

I hope you or the drummer didn't hit anybody with the glock  :D

Happy NGD!  :D
