nantucket 90 vs mississippi queen?
« on: July 04, 2011, 02:11:07 PM »
hey guys,

i am going with a p-90 tone in the neck of a tele. doesn't matter if it is humbucker or p-90 sized since i am building it from scratch.

that said, is there any difference in tone, attack and response between the nantucket 90 and mississippi queen apart from size and what is stated in their respective web pages?

best,
dani

They are both alnico 5 (in the bridge position) with a similar output - the Nantucket sounds very slightly more full in the mids on the website clips.

What I hear is that they are close in sound. I would prefer a P90 in my tele. Looks very classy and classic.

I have a P90 in the neck of my Tele and its a great tone - I'm also waiting for a MQ to arrive for the neck position of my Les Paul.  I'm finding that P90s give me the tone I want in the neck more than anything else.

i favor a p-90 tone in the neck as well hence the choice between the nantucket and mq although the mq do have a a4 mag vs the a5 on the nantucket.
