Got my Nailbombs installed
« on: September 03, 2011, 07:39:51 PM »
Bought a calibrated Nailbomb set for a Les Paul Traditional.
Finally had the chance to go to the tech thursday evening and get them installed.

Initial impressions :
Punchy. The bridge pickup kicks out a lot of harmonics. The neck pickup is real sweet for soloing.
Bridge pickup is not great for cleans. Just like the Holydiver, it seems geared to rock. The neck pickup clean is nice and airy, much to my amazement.
Like the Holydiver, the pickups are very sensitive to height adjustment. There's a narrow sweet spot between too close and too far away. When lowered too much, they still sound good but lack power.
Sounds like described : bridging the gap between classic rock and modern metal. Enough mids to do hard rock when lowered a bit, plenty of kick for more extreme styles.

I need to try these out with my band rig, but so far I'm happy with my choice.
Hey Nonny Nonny mylord!

They sound like I would like them a lot...I definetly gotta get them in one of my axes...question is in which (donīt know if AM or NB for my 7 string...).
That bridge between rock and metal really appeals to me.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Sounds great. Yeah, the height is always a bit experimenting. Had the same with my Crawler and VHII, but found the sweet spots.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.
