help with slecting pickup
« on: September 23, 2011, 10:33:49 PM »
Hi! i currently have an ESP m300-fm which came with emg 81 (bridge and neck yes i know wtf right?) any way... i was wondering what would be the best for an amazing metal tone. something that could kick Seymour Duncans blackouts in the ass. also i would love to have heavenly sounding cleans. bands that i like are in flames, parkway drive, killswitch engage, bullet for my valentine, a day to remember. stuff like that. thanks in advance!!

Hmm, most of those bands use EMG's

the 300fm is a Mahogany body/Maple neckthru/Rosewood fretboard.

I'm not sure exactly what pups would be best for you... mainly just posting a bit more info so that some one else can better help you :D

If you haven't yet, you can always email Tim (the builder) about it and he will be able to help you figure out what would sound best and fit you and your guitar best.

Yeah, most of those bands use EMG's. Try an 85 in the bridge. KSE and In Flames use the 85.

Miracle Man/ Coldsweat.

+1, the MM will nail the rhythm tones you're after, and the cold sweat really brings it for the leads and clean tones.
