pickups for a blackmachine b2
« on: September 07, 2011, 07:53:19 AM »
After waiting for years i finally have a b2 .
Now to load it with the right weapons.

The guitar is one piece swamp ash with ebony top and
ebony board.
I have nailbombs in my jaden rose and its great through diezel.
However the b2 will be played through a vht pitbull cl with eq.

The genre is prog In places but v heavy think chimaira and lamb of god.

I guess i am looking for huge thud but with clarity. it has jb and jazz duncans in atm.
Also what neck pickup would you advise. for glassy cleans.

I think the MM will provide the lower frequencies you need in swampash and it's reckoned as a pickup that's not shrill in the topend. Should work.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

Both Aftermath and Nailbomb will give a very thrashy sound in a swamp ash B2 through a VHT, the Aftermath more than the Nailbomb but both are going to sound quite raw.

K here is my dilema
I have a nailbomb in my jaden rose guitars.
Both mahogany with wenge and purpleheart necks and the sound is amazing.
The issue with the mm is i hate the emg sound that it is supposed to replicate :(

The Miracle Man doesn't sound much like an EMG to my ears at all, and I don't think that was the intention behind its design either.
It makes a good entry point into the passive pickup world for those that normally use actives, as the output and dynamic is not that dissimilar, but tonally I find it to be substantially bigger, clearer and more harmonically rich than an EMG.

ok ill roll with the MM then dude :)
Just got to decide wether to keep duncan jazz in neck as sounds awesome. Love the fullness and sweet colouring of the tone.
Just ordered another nailbomb aswell :)

Nolly I had actually already ordered a Nailbomb ceramic bridge last week for the Blackmachine as I loved them in my jaden rose guitars.
Will it really sound that bad or is it more of a less than ideal tonal  issue with the wood combinations?
I am asking this as the Nailbomb so far is my fav bkp in all manner of guitars but all have had mahogany bodies, did not think about the swamp ash thing.
If so ill get a refund on it and go with the miracle man, many thanks for the help.
Storming EP Btw sounds really good :)

I also tried too add you on facebook, I am colin peter parks.

I doubt you'll find it unusable by any means. The ceramic Nailbomb got fitted to many Blackmachines (I believe it was Pin from SikTh and Doug's idea to try a ceramic magnet in the Nailbomb in the first place). Try it out and see what happens.
It would have been a bit easier if you had said that you had ordered a c-'bomb from the start though.

Spoke to tim he recommended aftermath so ordered an aftermath and abraxas set.
Looking forward to the voicing of the abraxas.
Gonna put the c bomb in jaden rose.
