My very first band once warmed up for danish funk act Ridin' Thumb (http://ridinthumb.dk/). The show was recorded live by Danish national radio and they aired one of our songs later in the evening.

Pretty crazy as we only possesed a few milligrams of talent.
Mississippi Queens, Stormy Monday/Apaches, Emeralds, Nailbomb (bridge)

After Macca, my money's on Eric now... (unless of course it was something like a gig at Graceland and you could see the grave from the stage )

Who though? It wasn't a left-handed singer-songwriter/bass-player was it? (I'd love to have played in front of him...)

Roo would like to meet him too....

 I thought that too... in fact, I nearly posted "It wasn't one of Roo's bete noires was it?", but I wasn't too sure of the spelling and it only narrowed it down to three suspects (Sir Cliff, Sir Paul, or a traffic warden)

That's very very unfair on Sir Cliff.  He might be an utter tool, but at least you can laugh at him. For the others, I have only unbridled contempt.

Thinking about it, I am not sure he was the best musician I have played in front of and I suppose it is debatable about whether he was a musician in the sense that he is known for his skills with a musical instrument.
But I suppose I'd better say who it was: Michael Jackson but like I said before, I was a humble bass player and Mike Casswell was in the band too so I doubt whether anyone noticed me.

I heard he liked to "fiddle"  :?

I must admit, I couldn't remember the (extremely heterosexual) Sir Cliff being on your hate list....

Still, playing in front of MJ (love him or loathe him) is quite something, IMO.

Oh wow! I nearly said Michael Jackson earlier, partly in jest, partly in... oh alright... jest... (he was the most famous musician I could think of, but I couldn't imagine how you'd be playing in front of him).

But yeah, he definitely counted as a musician in my books. Not one of my favourites, but pretty bluddy famous all the same (not even counting the later "infamous" non-musical stuff) - yep, quite something to have played in front of him :D

Bit tangential but...

The wife of a old colleague was a winner of BBC Young Musician of the Year - to watch her play the piano close up was unreal - the speed and dexterity of movement was something else.

Chap I know is engaged to an ex-winner. They're both cellists. He's good, a Royal Academy student of the year I think, but she's outrageous.
