RG1451 thoughts?

Hey guys, first post!

I'm just about to purchase an Ibanez RG1451 http://www.ibanez.com/ElectricGuitars/model-RG1451 and the first thing I'll be doing is changing out the stock pickups. The guitar is basswood with a maple/walnut neck, a rosewood fret board and has a H/S/H configuration, and I'll be using it to mostly play progressive rock/metal.

I'm thinking cold sweats for the bridge and neck but the single coil in the middle is a complete mystery to me.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

If you want a modern tone: Trilogy. More vintage: IT or Slowhand which has a bit more mids.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

When you say modern do you mean higher gain or more rounded tone? The single coil will be used predominantly for clean stuff so I'm not really concerned so much with output, have always loved the sound of cleans through a single coil since I heard Cynic's "Focus" album years ago.

More rounded, muscular and capable of driving an amp. If you're after belll-like vintage cleans I would look at something vintagehot like IT's or Slowhands.

Oh god yes.. The clean tones on that album are gorgeous! I will be stealing whatever answer comes here, and use it for myself :D

Thanks Tele!

Think I'm probably going to go with the Slow Hand and either Aftermaths or Cold Sweats if I go down the Bareknuckle road. I'm super keen on trying these things out but I live in Australia where everything is hard to obtain (except skin cancer!) so there's probably about a 30% chance I might end up with a DiMarzio setup of Liquifire & Crunchlab for neck & bridge with maybe a Red Velvet in the middle for the single coil as it'll probably be a good $150 cheaper.

Whatever I end up with I'll probably post pics and maybe even some audio if I can.
