Mystery BK
« on: October 28, 2011, 06:00:55 PM »
Hi
Putting together a mahogany Strat, hardtail.
I originally bought a Nailbomb for the bridge.
Ran into a guy that had a mystery BK in burnt chrome marked "Bridge".
18.11K
Methinks its a Miracle Man?
If the Nailbomb is too dark for this guitar, I'm thinking of trying it.
Any decent cleans from this pup?
I'll be running a 3-way switch. 2 pups in this guitar, neck is a P92.
Can I coil split in the center position of the switch, neck and one coil from the hum, using a standard Gibby style toggle?
Thanks
BKPs: Nail Bombsss, Mississippi Queen, BKP-91, Cold Sweat, mystery humbucker, Supermassive

You could be right. Mine measures 17.8k - close enough given that the DC resistance varies with temperature changes, and not all multimeters are alike.

Can't say - I don't use it in series mode for clean tones.

No, not with the standard toggle. You will need a 4P3T switch to do this. It is the same switch that is used for the John Petrucci style wiring.

If you want to stick with the standard toggle you will need to use a push-pull pot to coil split or the tone control. But then the pickup would be either split or unsplit in all toggle positions.

Cheers Stephan

Umm... "Strapless bra" was not quite the twang tone I was going for, thanks though.

I'd rather use a Miracle Man in a mahogany strat than a NB

LOL... There was a spambot, thankfully the mods removed all the posts, "dress-something", and the reply was extolling me on the virtues of their strapless bras....
