I buyed BLACKDOG & MULE for SG Supreme - Opinions?
« on: December 25, 2011, 02:26:35 PM »
Hi people! First, sorry for my english, im spanish and speak english very bad! hehe :)

Yesterday, i ordered a BLACKDOG for the bridge and MULE for the neck.

I have a Gibson SG Supreme with Classic 57's (no 57+) and i need more power, body, agresivity (in the bridge) and sweet & fat sound for neck when i play clean sounds. I go to put a push-pull in two positions.

Mi amp is an Engl Powerball modified (more organic, dinamic, with a real sound, definied, versatyle & present that a original powerball) with a XXL en cabinet with V30's speaker!!!

And i play, usually, punkrock. This is my group!!

Song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CB1ryO0FUQo

...and this, more slow: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-cr5Qw8ShU

What is your opinion of my configuration, BlackDog (bridge) and Mule (neck) with mi set?

PD:Mi doubt was if buy a MULE + MULE or MULE + BLACK DOG... what, im think that with black dog i 'll have more power and a roaring sound (GRRRRRRR!!!!).

I have the same guitar and I think you made the right choice. I had a set of Mules in there and the bridge pickup was  to bright. The Black Dog should suit the maple cap and ebony fretboard better. Be sure to replace the stock 300k volume pots with 500k!!! Once I did that the pickups sounded much clearer and punchier.

Ok Troy, I will change the volume potentiometers! Is important is to remove the layer that mutes the sound!!! (more punch, more clarity...), thanks!

Muy buena Banda tienes!!

Thank you very much for your compliment! hehe

We have not idea! but we play what we like. We are now writing the third album, so I wanted to improve my sound and execution. It's time! hehe

The rest, some more reviews on this team? Guitar, amp, cabinet, pickups, etc??

you could try 550k pots as well
the black dog sounds much more alive and punchy than a 57 classic
