Suggestion for my N4
« on: December 13, 2011, 06:47:21 PM »
Hello guys, I want to replace my Seymour Duncan ī59 of my Washburn N4 (ash body) and I want a BKP (I have a pair in my Peavey Wolfgang EVH and also in my Gibson LP).

I want a pickup a little hotter than ī59, aproximately 9k.

What do you suggest?

Cold Sweat - 8.3k - Alnico V
Emerald - 9.6k - Alnico IV
Nailbomb - 9.8k - Alnico V

Other options?

Remembering that my bridge pickup is the Bill Lawrence L500.

Thanks!!!  :D

I would go for an Aftermath or Painkiller neck as a partner to the very hot L-500 (Nuno used to play the XL variant). The Painkiller neck with the ceramic magnet should also be bright enough to balance with the quite bright L-500. But since you said "a little hotter" I would choose the Nailbomb neck. The Cold Sweat neck will be overpowered by the L-500 but I guess so was the 59, too. I guess Nuno used this pickup only for clean tones - all his leads seem to be played on the bridge pickup.

Cheers Stephan
