problems with DiMarzio PAF 36th anniversary... maybe..
« on: January 24, 2012, 10:56:25 PM »
..I have a DiMarzio PAF 36th but when I have recorded with the sound engineer we have find a hole in my sound.... as an out of phase... the sound is not really like two humbuckers out of phase with that classic sound squawky .. This has "holes" of frequencies .. the sound is back, dug ..
but before, with another pickup, I dont had problems like this ..it is possible that this defective??

Who knows?

If it doesn't say Bare knuckle Pickups on the baseplate it is probably defective and you should get a refund.  :?

What was the other pickup?

What you describe does not sound like a defect to me. A defective pickup would not only show itself recorded.

Sounds to me like a phasing issue with the recording.  Multiple mics?

I don't really understand your question. Are you saying it sounds OOP with both pickups on (switch in the middle)? Or with only the one pickup selected?

Either way, check your wiring. For the 36th it should be black/white soldered together, green/bare = ground, red = hot. If it sounds OOP in the middle position and that's not what you want you would reverse the red and green wires, making the red go to ground and the green your hot lead. Depending on your neck pickups polarity you could be OOP with the 36th wired correctly.

The volume pot will just take off some of the top end, I doubt that's the problem. I really like the 36th myself, and I don't find any holes in it's sound, so I'm guessing you're wired wrong somehow.
