Ibanez RG Premiums?

Thinking about getting one of these sometime soon (and maybe Bareknucklifying it :) ), but there doesn't seem to be a lot of info on them, especially the 7 string.

Anybody tried these out?

Got to try one out, but didn't really have much time with it.

Canīt say much but at a little convention I recently tried out nearly every Ibanez they had there and the RG Premium 7 string stuck with me the most. Nice playability and rang out very nicely. The Jem there for example did not ring half as good.
I did only play it accousticly though, as I tend to do (cause I can and probably will always put BKPs in later), it the accoustic sound and playability that counts.

So my impression was very positive.

I've heard nothing but good things about them so far. I've even heard a few guys saying they'd take one over a plain jane Prestige.

i haven't tried them but i'm very suspicious

they have teh cheaper trems. that alone is enough to put me off, considering my own personal experience with ibanez' cheaper trems. EDIT: that being said even the prestiges have the edge zero trem now, which is no longer made by gotoh, so it's not like I trust them either.

^ I'm not sure why anyone with any sense would take a premium over a "plain jane" prestige. :?

Tried one again today. Felt really nice to me. Not really a trem user; mainly like the feel of a floating trem for palm mutes, but it felt better than the Cort licenced one I have in a guitar now. What don't you like about them Dave?

as i said, i haven't tried them, but the cheaper ibanez trems (certainly the older ones like the edge iii and lo-trs) have the reputation of being, well, rubbish :lol:

I'd heard the Edge 3 wasn't great, but hadn't heard much about the others. Thought the new one seemed fine, though my only experience with a Floyd is my cheapest of the cheap Cort, so I don't think it could be much worse  :lol:

yeah, i mean the new one may indeed be better. but at the same time, they still see reason to fit a cheaper version to their cheaper guitars (and the premiums), so there's gotta be some reason for it.

Yeah, I guess so. So long as it doen't break though, I'd probably be happy. If I had my way, the bridge would be one of those fancy fixed ones Nolly has on his Blackmachines; looks REALLY comfy.

I'm actually really interested to hear peoples views on this as well. I was going to get a Warmoth, but I came acroos this guitar, and wondered what people thought?

I really like the sound of a Basswood body with Maple top. According to Suhr that's meant to be the untimate combo.  Any one vouch for this?

Also American Basswood is meant to be regarding as the best Basswood, as to some of the cheap type of Basswood seen around the world.

Didn't play it, but I had a Jem and most uppermarket Ibbie are very nice and have great necks if you dig the profile. The only thing I'm not very fond of (usually) are the pickups, but they can be changed easily.
