Finding THE bridge pickup.
« on: February 18, 2012, 09:59:54 PM »
Greetings everyone!

I'm new on the forum, but I've been wanting to try some BKPs for a while.

I recently acquired an Epiphone Les Paul Prophecy with EMGs.
Very nice guitar, but seeing as I already have EMGs in my other guitar, I feel like trying something different.
The guitar has a solid mahogany body with a maple top, set mahogany neck with ebony fingerboard.
I'm playing through a Mesa Boogie Studio Pre (if that matters)
I play a mix of death metal, sludge and hard rock. I'm all about "groovy" riffage. Not a shredder by any stretch.
Mostly I'm tuned to either B or drop A.

I'm looking for a thick sound with lots of crunch, rich harmonics and an aggressive, percussive attack.

Which pickup should I be looking at?

Thanks in advance.

I have the Painkiller set in my Les Paul.

Its a Gibson, with Mahogany, Maple top, and an Ebony Fret Board.
Through my Marshall 2203 (hot rodded), and a Maxon OD808, Its crushing!

I also bought four BKP CTS 550k Pots, with the Jensen BKP Paper in oil.

 It was a good investment.
