Just got done using the search function where I was reading about covered pickups.

In the thread someone stated that Tim winds covered pickups in order to compensate for any high end frequency issues.

Was curious if this was true.

Thanks in advance.

Tom

To my understanding, yes this is true.  But they still won't be as bright as the uncovered.  Go watch this video;

Doombuggi,

Thanks a bunch for the link. That was great.
I ordered the covered rebel yells a few weeks ago,(can't wait to get them). Now I am wondering if they were designed with the covers on or off due to the signature Ray Gun covers offered with the set.

I'm going to post a new thread with this question in it.  I certainly like the uncovered sound of the riff raff better in the video...

Thanks again for the video link.

Cheers,

Tom

It would probably be better to post your question in this same thread.  You should just try them out as they are.  I pretty sure you are going to like them with or with out covers.  You already got the covers coming, so just try them out.  If they sound good, go with it.

If you want to get them un-coverd, it is best to send them back to BKP.  Other wise it voids the warranty, and if anything happens to them, your warranty will not be valid for repair or replacement.

Doombuggi,

Good points and good suggestion on having BKP uncover them if necessary.   I already posted the question in a new thread. But I will most definitely try them out before passing judgement of course. I think you are right that I will like them covered or not.  I tend to be a bit picky when it comes to things, especially the tone of my guitars. I could probably EQ or boost any frequencies that would be necessary if it came to that.

Thanks again for the reply and info.

Cheers,

Tom

Hi, EQ won´t really do, theres more to it than that.
The cover smoothens out the sound a little, But you can always remove it if you want.
