Very interesting info guys! the 3120 i found to be dead quiet on the clean and rhythm channel-on the ultra is where the hissing starts. On the Jsx theres just hiss everywhere-which i find annoying. So, say if i was to get a Jsx or a 3120 would any of you guys be able to reduce the amp's hiss for me? cheers

I could potentially do some of the things mentioned here, however im based in London.

The amp will already have the noise reduction circuit JacksonRR mentioned. The bit I'd do would be the resistor changes discussed and if possible the filament mod HTH mentioned. It would also be worth changing the screen grid resistors on the power valve sockets. They are likely to be 100ohm if the 3120 is anything like the XXX. increasing those would be sensible.
