For the scale length, tuning, and wood composition, I would go for an Aftermath, or Coldsweat.

My concern with the Holy Diver is that it looks like it's as high output as the c-bombs and distortions I have now.

nah, it's medium high output
less than a dimarzio super distortion
around gibson 498t or prs dragon II output level, but less distorted and more midrangy
not sure which duncan would be around that output ballpark... maybe the custom custom
I love its lower tuning tones, but I can't comment on the long scale thing

Riff Raff, Mules, Black Dog, VHII's, Cold Sweat

I can't comment on baritones, but in les pauls, the diver sounds considerably tighter than the black dog
and also easier and louder on pinch harmonics
I love the dog in my maple neck Greco, though
also, "baritone" doesn't define the whole construction
I think Jon Schaffer used to have a holy diver in a baritone and I never heard anything "nowhere tight enough" from him, including his lower tuning songs
I remember you enjoyed the diver for a while
but I see how a black dog can sound tighter in close gain settings, as the diver sounds more saturated

I'd still pick a ceramic model, though

This is just my experience, I had big problems with the low end and the HD. Maybe it's because of the huge amount of bass that the long scale and low tuning pumps out, the HD is already a quite full sounding pickup.

Thanks for the replies. Y'all know your stuff!  Very informative, I appreciate it!  Haven't made a decision yet, I'll do that closer to building time   :D

While on this topic...

I have a baritone now without pickups.  Very similar to the one I described in my soon-to-be build. It's a Warmoth 28.5" Bloodwood neck with an alder Soloist body.  Bolt-On String thru.

The woods are on the brighter side, I want the pickups to make it sound darker!  Growly/throaty gain (but not hissy, if that makes sense), tight bass, thick mids, smooth treble.  I tune this beauty to B/drop A for doom and groove metal. I had a C-bomb, didn't like it. Thoughts?   :)

Aftermath, or Warpig.  Warpig may produce too much low end for the tuning you are using.  Don't know to much about it.  Maybe use a 500k pot instead of the a 550k.  If you get the pickups with covers, they will be slightly less bright, but not by much.

I'm thinking Aftermath too.  Warpig could indeed be too boomy.
