Bare Knuckle humbuckers in alder?
« on: July 09, 2012, 02:57:01 PM »
Hello,

What Bare Knuckle humbuckers sound good in an Alder body for that old-school thrash tone?

I'm thinking of Megadeth, Testament, Metallica, Overkill, Slayer, Laaz Rockit, Dark Angel, Exodus, etc.

My guitar has these specs:

B.C. Rich USA Speed V
25.5" scale length
Bolt-on maple neck with ebony fretboard (stainless-steel frets)
Alder body
Original Floyd Rose (recessed)
1 volume pot (no tone), 1 pickup toggle switch
2 humbucker routes

I use various amps: Marshall 2203 (6550's), Marshall 2203 (EL-34's), Boogie Mark IV, and Wizard MTL.

Thanks!

painkiller

thanks!

would a Cold Sweat in the neck be a good match for the Painkiller?  I need some good clean tones as well.

Yeah, Painkiller bridge and Cold sweat neck would be perfect for thrash.
