I know it's not strictly Electric but....
« on: February 21, 2006, 08:11:28 PM »
The missus has been pestering me about an acoustic guitar, well acoustic/electric (but she dos'nt really know the difference).
Anyway, went to local music store today to get some different strings and they were having a blowout acoustic sale. Now, mind you, their idea of a sale is NOT mine lol.
Anyway, had a curious looking Ovation there. It is covered in a black enamel coating and was LOUD!!!!!!!!!! I mean REALLY loud unplugged. The neck was thin like a Jackson sorta, body not wide, nice frets.
Anyway, cannot afford it (although one local on Evilbay for $450 when they retail for $900+ lol).
But NOT knowing a thing about acoustics, anyone have any advice?

i dont know if theres anything better for the money but by jove do i love ovations.... next electro-acoustic i get im hoping it will be one....

obviously there will be some underground super-make which ill have never heard of that someone on here will reveal to be the best acoustics ever constructed by mankind which will blow away the ovations entirely and take unworthy opinion along with it....

but i like them  :D

Wish had some cash :( lol

Too many guitars lol.

Still, have one handgun left to sell (since Ole Blighty frowns on them :( ). Hmm, wonder what I can get for it.

sambo i dont have a guitar make that copy ovation and do a good job of it but i have one for you to avoid.
tanglewood! a few years back my dad bought me a handmade tanglewood that  is a copy of an ovation, it looks fantastic. which is fine if you just want to sit and look at the thing.however it sounds undescribably awful. i think it's a bit like sushi, an accuired taste so to speak but in reality which ever way you look at it, its shite

Sell myself? LOL, ummm, missus may not like that idea. Or me for that matter.
Lol, I am stripping down and found an Offshore Fishing reel which could'nt find when was selling on Evilbay before. Never used and retails for $130 so should be good for $60.
Need to try and sell the handgun and rifle I guess. Was gonna wait till moving so can kill any intruders    But guess does'nt matter as not had an issue in 6 years anyway.
Prolly can raise $300 or bit more.

This thing (well one in shop) is sweet. Stippled (not flat/polished) finish, kinda rough and tough looking. Enamel finish, onboard tuner. And OMG it sounded sweet and LOUD.

Hmmm, I am officially obsessed by guitars LOL.

Damn Collective Soul!

Was watching their new "Home" concert on TV this weekend and dug the acoustic stuff. Course, the Roland brothers play Hollowbody PRS, Bit outta MY pricerange.

This Ovation just SHOUTS Rock n Roll being flat balck and rough textured!

Darn music, darn guitars, darn it all LOL!

can't say i think much of ovation, but then i've only tried one and i would assume it was pretty cheap, i'm sure there must be plenty of good ovations out there, it's just that i've never played one of them. nah as far as acoustics go i'm more of a soundhole-in-the-middle-natural-wood-finish kind of guy.
