I'm certain the question has been asked a thousand times, but i haven't found a link to it with some research so here goes.
I just mounted an emerald neck on my gibbyES335. i find it a bit bass heavy, and the highs are a bit 'silky' and non natural, and sound a bit 'compressed' (this particular problem might be because i just lowered the strings a bit too much, i'll change that tomorrow).
I'm certain that it isn't supposed to be bassy heavy and to have that 'silky' thing, so i measured the volume pot:
the stock volume pot is 288 (!!) K.
Is that normal for a ES335? is that wanted? normal for the classic 57 that were mounted wiht it at first? why would gibson would put 300K pots in humbucker guitars? is there a reason?
Do you think that changing the pot to a 500k one would correct what i mentioned earlier?
Does it mean that now, with my pot fully opened, my guitar sounds like it would sound with the volume at 6 if the pot was changed for a 500K one?
and, is there a place to buy 550k push pull pots ? :)
Thanks for your advices.
