I need somthing very versatile for my les paul. My band is covering stuff from Beatles and Chilly peppers (need a good clean sound) to Muse, Van Halen and Zep (I use some very high gain pedals for these). I thinking of maybe have a coil tap on the bridge aswell. What would you recomend? Thanx

the only bkp ive got is a bridge abraxas in my sg,its really good for clean stuff with a bit of crunch.if you put a coil tap in it i suppose it would back off a bit and become a little more subdued,that could work nicely for some of the beatles stuff.
if you do mainly overdriven stuff then i would guess you should go for something hotter, i'm sure i read a thread on here somewhere that said miracle man was really good for some heavy playing but cleaned up nicely when you back of the gain on the clean channel.
maybe i'm goin mad but i'm sure it here somewhere.
if you are into your pedals for distortion and so on then you could go for somethin with a fairly low out put.

:D For the range of stuff your playing i`d recommend, The Mule or VHII. i play in a cover band and i`ve had to play everything from Eddie Cochrane, The Beatles, Stones etc right up to Zeppelin, Van Halen, Sabbath etc !!!

I`ve found both of the above H/B sets to be versatile & able to pull off all of it, & at the same time you`ll have Godly Tone !! :P

I`ve got both these sets setup with Coil Taps i would whole heartedly recommend you do the same. The VHII has a wonderfull Telecaster type sound when the bridge is coil tapped, & the Mules thin out nicley for those lighter jingerly jangerly moments.

I have a Mississippi Queen neck and Mule bridge and its an excellent combination that gives you a huge range of sounds - i think you would get all you want from that combo

+1 for the Mule. Nails that PAF thing, which sounds like it would probably suit the vibe you're looking for.

ive heard the mule looses some definition with high gain. What do you think of Black dogs?

Mules definately dont lose their definition with hi-gain. I found some clips I did ages ago with my Mule loaded LP, only done through a V-Amp 2 but you get the idea. Excuse the cr@p drums on the "metal riff thing" track :lol: I did them in a program meant for dance beats :P

The "blues thing" wasnt done on my LP, but my strat copy with stock pickups, doesnt actually sound to bad :D

I just did another quick old school metal clip posted in the Players forum. The tone sounds a bit dull there though, I guess my laptops soundcard isnt that amazing.
