i guess you could argue that compnents from diff manufacturers and the fact the circuit board in the current TS9 and TS808 RI's are the same, account for the difference in sound, but conceivably in modding a current RI to have the character of an original maybe tightens up the midrange focus? So i guess your 9 could be the classic mod?
difference between 9 and 808 is two resistors, maybe a capacitor as far as I remember
the newer 9's supposedly don't have the JRC 4558D opamp
Yep, on the output i believe, what i mean is the difference between a hifi hump killer mod and a regular TS is more in terms of component values than there is between as TS9 and 808. i believe on the silver mod he strips out a bunch of components, and replaces them with mojo stuff. Same for the classic mod i expect, except i'm thinking he puts in NOS parts faithful to the original schems. I don't think the tightening of the mid focus on yours is as much to do with mojo components as it is tuning of the circuit on the classic mod. he might actually measure his component values. I know he has a bunch of originals, so he could be taking actual values from those and putting in parts that he's measured to match those? This worked on a tonebender clone a friend in the states did for me. indistinguishable from the original. who knows?
He also puts a 4558 into the classic and silver mods, but i really don't think it makes a diff.
