i've always thought the Stones have a few absolute classic songs, and then a vast swathe of uninteresting blandness around them. just my personal opinion :) i do love a handful of their songs, but find i can't wade through any of their albums.
I don't really want to get into another heated debate(!) on the merits of the Stones, but my feelings are pretty similar although I don't think they were ever exactly bland.
I do like a lot of the stuff they recorded between the late '60s and mid-'70s - which I always thought of as the Mick Taylor period, although in fact
Beggars Banquet was pre-Taylor.
Funnily enough, though, I've always felt the same about Led Zeppelin - I love
most of their songs, but every album has at least a couple which I find hard work. Maybe with really talented, creative bands it
shouldn't be too easy to like everything they do....
Couple more tasty guitars for Philly on this one - Les Paul Junior (or maybe a special.. think there might be a neck pup) and a Firebird

..but the highlight for me is Lisa Fischer .. what a ****ing voice (2.30) .. even made Keith smile (3.05)
I shall have to look at the clip when I get home later. :D
