Choosing BKPs for Ibanez RGD2127.
« on: December 05, 2012, 09:06:14 AM »
Hi guys!

I am planning to change pickups on my Ibanez RGD2127 - 26.5" scale/basswood body/maple-wenge neck/rosewood fingerboard. Love the guitar, but stock pickups sound kinda harsh to me and I have a feeling they are very hot.

So, looking for a neck pickup that is moderately hot, fluid, not harsh, with good body, smooth top end. Bridge pickup should be hot (but not Warpig for sure), with good body, tight, have nice low-mids, not harsh and have good potential for screaming pinch harmonics.

I mostly play groove-metal. Here are few samples I recorded:

Your advise is appreciated!

Miracle Man bridge with an Emerald neck would be my choice.

I second that fully!
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Second thought on the neck: Coldsweat.
I'd say Miracle Man as well for the bridge :)

Emerald neck if you want smooth buttery leads.

Cold Sweat if you want more articulate leads. The ceramic magnet gives more pick attack so it retains the qualities of a bridge pickup.

Both will have great cleans.
