Aged gold pics?
« on: December 12, 2012, 01:19:33 PM »
Has anyone got any pics of aged gold covered BKPs?  I did a search and didn't find much.
Am trying to decide whether to go for gold or zebra in my LP Custom.
Thanks.

I don't think that's worth the extra cost
it won't look authentic like aged or raw nickel
I had one that I asked for a slightly aged but with a nice discoloration
it came just like a new pickup but with a few rust points...
I've seen better ones, but none looked like a 20+ years old pickup
you better grab a new one, use some belt buckle cleaning product to wipe the gold out a bit, then iron peroxide or whatever they call it to lose the shiny aspect (using the iron thing straight over the gold plating won't make it aged)
don't go heavy and your sweat will finish the job quite quickly

I always quite like that relic gold look

that looks good
not really like a real aged pickup, but I like the rough brushing effect

mine was fully shiny with a couple dings
