When I say "non-TS style" I mean sonically, because that's all that matters to me.
How they go about achieving the tone, I really couldn't care less
So yeah, what I meant was no mid hump, basically. I'm looking for something with a fairly flat frequency response.
From Toe-Knee's description, it looks like this one might fit the bill, at least with the "hump" disengaged.

no worries, i just thought it was worth pointing it out :)

An in-store test can only tell me so much too. I need to use stuff with my own rig. Been burned plenty of times by something that sounded awesome in the shop and sounded like total cr@p at home or with the band :?

agreed :)

Just a few quick clips before I go out. I didn't have much time to do this so it isn't really optimal. All is explained in the post

It was just for testing purposes more than anything. Also note the crunch sound is a bit weak on the amp on those clips due to the crunch just being another mode of the clean channel so it has shared gain/eq controls and i left them exactly as they were for the clean so as not to skew the results.

Yeah, the crunch tone in itself was a bit uninspiring, if you'll pardon me saying.
The important thing for me though, was that the CBMO made it sound a lot better ;)

Yup thats the downside of the design. Originally the amp just had the crunch mode and the clean mode is the crunch attenuated. Its possible to get fantastic cleans or a fantastic crunch but not both. In this case i went for a poor compromise between the two for demo purposes.

I just went into my guitar room/bedroom and the computer was still on. And i realised that on the crunch clips i never loaded impulse files....

For anyone interested i recorded these using the slave out on my amp that is the entire amp signal tapped off from the speaker out jack so it has the power amp in there too.

I thought it would be better for comparative purposes. However it clearly wasnt as the last three clips are just the amp with no speaker simulation. I'll fix that tomorrow!

Does that mean the crunch clips will sound better once fixed?
