A less "cold" Aftermath?

Hello guys, I have a set of Aftermaths in my PRS CU24, maple top, mahogany body, rosewood neck. I absolutely adore the Aftermaths for all the reasons people would love them - tight, awesome output, clarity is incredible, pinch harmonics, etc. Basically I really like how it sounds  :lol:

My one gripe, and it's driving me a bit crazy - the pickup just sounds cold, compressed. I know that is basically necessitated for achieving the sound they produce, but is there a PUP that can produce that same sound, but have a "warmth" to it? I was contemplating on trying out an Alnico V Nailbomb, as Alncio achieves that warmer sound, but are there any other recommendations you guys have to achieve a warmer Aftermath? I did find that the Aftermath I put in a basswood guitar sounded much better than the one in a mahogany body, at least through my Peavey Valveking (which is a dark sounding amp to being with).

it's no near as loud and agressive, though, but will deliver a very similar sound with a booster
same voicing, but warm and organic

I guess the Aftermath is not for me but that was clear before I heard it - the video just confirmed it.

I own both pickups and tried them in the same guitars.

That video is not a good example to display the differences in the pickups, sure you can hear that one sounds like it isn't as hot, but you can hardly hear any tonal qualities at all.

I agree, but they do sound pretty close when boosted with a proper overdrive pedal
of course the player would notice other differences that a listener wouldn't tell even in person

Indeed. This is more of a "feel thing" - how open/compressed does it feel, how does the attack feel etc.
