Quick question on a neck pup' for my guitar!
« on: January 27, 2013, 02:30:39 AM »
Hey dudes!
So a while back I bought a Black hawk 7 Ceramic Bridge for my guitar; it pretty much made me realize how much tone I was missing out on! However at the time I didn't have enough to fund for a set, thus I just got the Bridge.
Now however, I'm looking to purchase a neck pickup but I'm just wondering whether I should buy the Alnico IV neck black hawk or maybe get another BKP? I noticed that the Bridge is amazing for high gain etc, but I need something with a bit more sustain or something even more suitable for cleans. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I appreciate any responses :)

(Guitar has Swamp Ash body if that helps)

My guess is that the BH neck should deliver what you need and you know that its general voicing is fitting in with the bridge.
After all it is a BKP neck (which alone helps) and it is Alnico IV, which is amazing for neck PUs imho, gives you what you want compared to the bridge by the general magnetic characteristics.
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

Yeah that makes sense, I mean I recently watched Misha Mansoor's axe-change video in which he uses a set of black hawks for his evertune guitar (cleans sound amazing!).
However it makes me think why some people like Nolly uses 2 different bkp pups for their guitar e.g his blackmachine
That being said I guess I'll be looking forward to a BH neck pup for my guitar by next month! Thanks for your suggestions guys, appreciate it!
