Hi, I'm a noob. Got a "leg" question.
« on: February 18, 2013, 07:16:30 AM »
Hi. I've registered here, coz I' ve got a question re. BKP pups:

I have an 2004 Ibanez 200 dt, in which I plan to install an Aftermath B and a Crawler N.

But I don't know if I should chose long (vintage) or short legs on the pups for that particular guitar.
My instinct is that I should chose short legs, but I just don' t KNOW.

Any advice will be appreciated.

Thanx.

About me: I'm 49 years old, I've played electric guitar for about 30 years.
I mainly play Classic Rock, Heavy Metal and Doom metal.

I have 4 guitars with Seymour Duncan JB and 59 pups, one with emg 707 pups, and a 73 strat with SD JB jr and 59 mini pups.

Amps: '68 Marshall plexi, Splawn Pro Stock, Splawn Superstock.
fxs: Whammy DT, Lynch Dragon Wah, GigFX ProChop, GigFX MegaWah, H20 Chorus/Delay and Line6 M9.

Basically what you'd like to do is remove the strings (not completely, just to get to the pickups), remove the screws that hold the pickup mounting rings in place and check out the current length of the legs. My guess would be short legs, but you never know.

Cheers

No idea about the answer to your question. Just wanted to say welcome and you have some very nice amps. Send an e-mail to BKP, they're very helpful. That guitar's not dissimilar to my Firebird Studio and I have long legs.

Because your pickups are fitted in mounting rings, you can't possibly go wrong with short legs.

The cavities may be deep enough for long legs, but they will definitely be deep enough for short.  So I'd go short.

And welcome to the forum!  Nice to see someone (slightly) older than me signing up.  :D
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds

I'd join the welcome- I can't answer your question though but I think Philly knows his stuff so you should be OK.
