Strymon is after my money again...
« on: March 12, 2013, 12:59:26 AM »
Hi,
I just saw that Strymon has been busy as ever. It still feels to me that the Flynt was just realesed yesterday or so, but appearantly they kept going.
Their newest monster is this http://www.strymon.net/mobius/

It is the modulation version of the Timeline basecally. 12 Modulation effects ranging from vintage to wtf.

I have been seeing Strymons around a lot lately. Roine Stolt of The Flower Kings and Transatlantic uses the El Capistan and the Tallest Man on Earth uses the Bluesky for example (though the latter had on of his two set quite wrong the last time I saw him resulting in a lot of feedback).

Personally I know it is just a matter of time before I get one as I love my Timeline soooooo much. Plus if I can find a expression pedal I really like this might also satisfy all my Wha needs which have just been fuled again by Roine Stolt.

What are your thoughts on this one? Like it? Hate it? Nice but overkill?

Cheers

wow, it sounds and looks great. if i was after a mod pedal i'd certainly put it on my list! love those demos

all my modulation requirements are served by my MXR micro flanger currently

I think it's amazing, I've got the ola chorus and love it, the mobius seems to have everything you would ever need..and more but there is one problem. What if you want vibe and tremolo at the same time?

That is really the main issue with these multi pedals. If they would find a way around that...guess for those specific ones you will still need to get an additional pedal.
Most combinations of these effects would be utterly overkill and useless though is my guess so that does not merrit adding in such a function.

Btw, imagine this thing in the effects loop of the Timeline oO

I like most of the Strymon-pedals, but I don't see myself using all the possibilities of the Timeline or the Mobius on stage. I find myself using less and less effects, just sometiimes to give the sound a bit of colour. For soundscape-freaks these are great pedals though.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

yeah love my timeline too . and the mobius  looks great but being stuck to 1 effect  at a time is kinda of a deal breaker with modualtion . especially if its an all in one box to cover lots of stuff

Maton- jazz/JB
Cole Clark -NB Neck ,  Apig
Mayones Setius - Juggs
Et Guitars Katana 7 -Juggs
Mesa Dual Rect
and more stuff

I've tried the Mobius briefly in a music shop and only scratched the surface, but the effects were superb. I can se the downside of being limited to only one effect at a time though.
