I have a Carvin SH60 with a semi-hollow mahogany body and neck-through walnut neck. This guitar is primarily tuned down to D standard/drop C most of the time and I'm looking for a pickup that will help the guitar sound a bit more articulate and well balanced... I don't want anything super high output or ceramic, so I was thinking mules.
I play mostly metal, but also a lot of jazz fusion. I like my distortion sound to be almost "purry" and well articulated, like in this Gojira song

Right now the stock pickups are alnico V and I like how they feel, however they're a bit fizzy and don't have enough articulation.
I'm really leaning towards trying some lower output pickups since my Axe Fx can pretty much supply as much gain as I want... Any suggestions?
