Nailbomb neck vs Cold sweat neck
« on: June 29, 2013, 05:48:07 PM »
Hi guys. I'm interested in getting alnico nailbomb bridge for my PRS. I'm now looking for the neck pickup.
How does the cold sweat compare to nailbomb neck?
Is there a lot difference in output between the two?
I like my neck pickup to perfectly match the output and tonality of the bridge. Should I go for NB neck?

Here's a thread about the Nailbomb-neck and other popular neckpickups like the VHII and the Cold Sweat.

nailbomb = louder, more open, scooped mids, treble heavy, very twangy
cold sweat = balanced, but dense midrange, bright top, but not trebly

the nailbomb has more of a classic twang but with heavy metal sort of pick attack (like a duncan '59 mixed with a bill lawrence)
the cold sweat has more of a gilbert/satriani virtuoso type of tone (dimarzio paf pro or something similar)
both are very articulate pickups
