Rattling sound on strat headstock
« on: January 12, 2014, 03:48:55 PM »
So whenever I'm playing an open string or a fretted note i get this nasty rattling sound from the headstock of my strat. I can't pinpoint where the problem is, I've tightened all the screws on the tuning pegs and stuff, but sometimes it comes back.

Really annoying esp when teaching!

Check the tuner bushings, they often work loose (or arrive from the factory loose!) and cause rattles and buzzes.

If you're really unlucky it'll be the truss rod rattling, that one's a b1tch.

Wrapping a tennisbracelet or some piece of cloth over the strings above the nut might help.
