Microphonic???
« on: March 16, 2006, 05:05:23 PM »
Hi i recently purcahsed a war pig (tuesday) and its been a bit micorphonic, me and ym amte at the music shop have been trying to fix it and work out whats wrong but he seems to think it may be to the high level of gain etc? and i was jsut wondering if this is a common occourance because of the huge amounts of gain as simon thinks or wether i should send it back to bare knuckle? Its not exactly unbearable but it can be a bit annoying.
Cheers for any help
Mark

What do you mean by microphonic - squeals, gushing ticking sound, it picks up your voice when you talk into it?  Describing the sound makes it easier to help  :D

Basically a really high pitched squeel, it was occuring even when the strings were dampened but since we resoldered all the electronics earlier it seems to just have normal feed back but it was like this constant unbearable hiss.Seems to be bearable and controlable now though.

If you want to be shure you can send it back to us and we can re-pot it for you. Its unusual for one of our pickups to be microphonic, but we can give it the once over for you.

thats what me and simon was thinking, that it shoudlnt be microphonic. But as i said it seems to be alright at the moment. Ill have to wait till rehersal next week when ill get a chance to put it under the same conditions i first noticed it to be sure if it is fine at the moment or not but if its still their then ill definately send it back to you guys. Apart from that its $%&#ing kick ass on par if not better than my emgs and it certainly has more balls its brutal as hell.

I never had that problem with my piggy. Only on high volume, max overdrive while I'm not touching the strings.

Yeah thats what its doing now which lets face it i can understand but before it was jsut hissing non stop. Probablly messy soldering or something since weve cleaned it up its not doing it anymore. My cr@ppy ibanez neck pickup still is tho haha but what do you expect from that haha yeah but the war pig is pretty much kicking ass at the moment but i thought id check in incase the problem comes back.
