the gibson pickup has a throatier punch to it. the cleans are okay. definitely excels for a vintage punchy punk rock sort of tone and the sustain was very impressive. . the bare knuckle pickup has a bit more too it. the cleans are INCREDIBLY better. the cleans are fuller and not as bright (in a good way). under heavy gain the supermassive has more body to it and has a bit more output overall which is great for some gainy leads. the sustain didnt seem as impressive but like i said, i went up to 10-52 strings from 10-46 (i'm guessing) and the nut would benefit from an adjustment to accommodate the thicker strings which would help with sustain and tuning stability. when it comes to the pots and capacitor, the upgrades are immensely better. the tone knob sounds much better rolled off and both the volume and tone rolls off a lot smoother.

Those Gibson wraptail bridges are notoriously finicky regarding string changes etc.  I changed mine to an adjustable Graph Tech ResoMax unit and haven't missed the old one at all.

On the sound, more balls in the bottom end and the tone knob is immensely improved.  That part where you roll back the Gibson tone pot on clean sounds awful, I know why you were making that face! My SG Junior came with a very similar pickup but it sounded a bit different in the different body.

Also, if you have a single P-90 you have to play some old Discharge!  One of the first things I did when I got mine!

yeah changing the strings with this wraparound bridge was a bit of a pain. but it seems to work okay other wise

I meant different gauges of string changing your intonation.

But yeah I guess wrapping over is more difficult.  I find it easier to string them when upright in the guitar stand, allows you to pull the string tight.

The ResoMax bridge has grooves that stop the strings from slipping around and the rounded edges generally make it more comfortable when palm muting.  I still find a TOM bridge better for palm muting though.
