Pickups for a Bass VI
« on: January 09, 2015, 03:52:56 AM »
I'm currently planning out a Bass 6 build from Warmoth and wondering what pickups would be best. They use a universal top routed body so really any combination is possible. I was mainly looking for at a H/S/H layout as then I would wire it with a 3 selector toggle(bridge, both, neck) along with the switch control plate(neck:series/parallel/single coil middle:off/on and bridge:series/parallel/single coil).

Now as for pickups go it says under the suitability tab that the Riff Raff, VH II, Black Dog, Aftermath, Painkiller, and Juggernaut are exceptionally suited to heavily detuned, extended range, or baritone guitars. The output of the Contemporary range of humbuckers more closely match the output of the p pickups I use.

Also which single coil should I pair with which ever set I choose to go with?

I don't have any experience with Bare Knuckle pickups or guitar pickups in general and have come to the BKP forums for opinions from those that have more experience with them than me. Thanks in advance for any and all answers.

Hi!
I have a few baritones, and a 30" included. I have tried most BKPs on them, with good and great results. But you need to figure out:
What woods are you planning to use? Is it a bolt on?
What tuning and string gauges are you expecting to use?
Are you going to use it as a bass or as an extended range guitar?
What kind of music do you intend to play on it?
What gear/rig do you have?

All these are really important factors in baritone territory.

Let us know and people with more knowledge than myself will be able to help.
