Strat bridge sinner with what?
« on: February 24, 2015, 10:11:59 AM »
I want to change the stock pickups in my strat (alder body, maple neck, rosewood board) to something more rocky and punchy.  I will use it to cover the spectrum from funk to heavy rock and like the idea of sinner in the bridge to get that full hot and slightly humbuckery sound but I am not sure what to pair it with at the neck and middle where I want versatility but want to balance it with the sinner.  Anyone used a full set of sinners or the sinner bridge with irish tours neck and middle?  Thoughts suggestions welcome..  this is my final guitar to get sorted with BKs.. got a Les Paul with VH2s, Tele with Blackguard flat 50s, Deluxe Tele HH with Crawlers.. just the strat to go!

cobras? Still there`s no reviews/demos but those pickups sound interesting, especially the neck version.

The middle ground for middle and neck i would guess is the Irish Tours.

I found the sinner set to be extremely versatile.  They do all sound like single coils still theyre just ever so slightly on the darker side compared to just about all other single coils.

So it seems to be sinners in all positions or sinner bridge and ITs middle and neck...  I like the idea of three sinners .. Should I go wit a RW MIDDLE?

Depends on if you want position 2 and 4 to be humcancelling. If yes, then RWRP middle is needed. If you donīt care about that and donīt want that bit of the sound that gets cut along with the hum, then donīt. You can listen to the difference here http://youtu.be/j2Z7ZIKAXTA

You can also consider if you want a baseplate on the bridge to fatten and power it up an extra bit. Common practice on the bridge. Listen here http://youtu.be/2_lVIWPc38E?list=PLCC9F1EE826876473
BKPs in use: 10th set / RY set / Holy Diver b, Emerald n / Crawler bridge, Slowhand mid MQ neck/ Manhattan n
On the sidelines: Stockholm b / Suppermassive n, Mule n, AM set, IT mid

A Sinner-bridge it's hard to balance with vintage(hot) singlecoils, but if that's not a problem the Irish Tours will deliver the funk. You could also check out the fullsounding Apaches, which are more versatile than they seem to be on paper.
Mules, VHII, Crawler, MM's, IT's, BG50's.

I would guess the Sinner set would be more balanced than a Sinner bridge/IT Middle and neck obviously.
It depends if you want the 3 SC to sound similar or something different in the neck/middle really.

I doubt a Sinner bridge would balance that well with anything from the vintage or vintage hot categories and I'm not sure a full Sinner set would give you the versatility you're after. If it was me, I'd use Trilogy Suites for the neck and middle to go with the Sinner bridge. The Trilogy Suites are hot enough but are far more traditionally single coil in character.
BKP owned:

Bridge - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; A-Bomb; Holydiver; Miracle Man; Sinner; Trilogy Suite

Neck - Emerald; Cold Sweat; Crawler; Holydiver; Sinner; Trilogy Suite
