1986/87 BC Rich Gunslinger

Hi all!

Posting this on a couple of forums as I'm looking for some thoughts/advice on this, so figured that this would be a good place to ask, as I'm sure many of you will perhaps have a better idea/be more informed/just generally be more clevererer than me!

So, I have in my possession an original USA made 80's Gunslinger. My dad bought it for me when I was a kid around 1992 I think, from a small music store in NJ, USA, and it was my first "decent" guitar. Years went by and lots of other guitars have come and gone....and I probably should've sold this a long time ago, but sentimental reasons kept me hanging onto it.

It's barely been touched in 8-10 years, and has been kept in storage all this time. Unfortunately the storage conditions were less than perfect, so its not in its best shape, but I don't think it'd take too much to get it back there. I literally dug this out a couple of days ago, so haven't had a chance to take any photos, but I will get them on here asap. It needs a damn good clean. The frets need a good polish, and lots of the screws need replacing, as they are pretty corroded...not a big deal. The paintwork is chipped in places, and the buckle rash on the back is through to the wood, and the saddles on the Floyd Rose could do with replacing, purely for cosmetics, although one of them is split, so the locking clamp won't get tight enough to hold a string in place.

But the neck.....OH MY GOD THE NECK! I forgot how good this was.....unfinished, oiled maple, perfectly straight, slim and smooth.....I think god himself carved this thing!

So, phew, sorry I feel like I dragged on a bit here, but just wanted to try and give as much info as I could think of. Please ask if there's anything I missed.

I'm looking to sell it on, but anyone know if these things (in good condition) are worth much? Are they sought after? (anyone here interested in buying one of these?) I guess what I'm trying to figure out is if its worth investing time and money in it, if it would give me any kind of return. Its a typical simple 80's guitar, single humbucker, single volume pot, white metallic paint.

I know that BC Rich re-released this line a few years ago, in crazy colours (Doesn't Rob have a green one?), but from what I can find online, they don't even come close to the feel of these. Particularly the necks....oh..did I mention how nice the neck is on this!?

Appreciate any thoughts/advice on this, if anyone can help.

Chris

This sounds like it might be one of the Bernie Rico ones.  By far the best era of BC Rich.  I'd keep it.  Don't worry about the hardware being tarnished, play the thing after a decent cleanup!

Sounds like a shred machine!  Would be killer with a Miracle Man I would think
BLACK HAWKS
IMPULSES
COBRA-T
WAR PIGS
STOCKHOLM
COLD SWEATS
MIRACLE MAN
TRUE GRIT
