Pups
« on: September 27, 2015, 01:43:59 AM »
Ok, I got the CS pups installed. The bridge sounds pretty good. It's a touch more scooped than I'd prefer but it's close enough I can eq it a bit. The neck though is not working for me. It sounds like I want to turn the gain up when I switch to the neck. I've tried playing with the height to no avail. What do you guys think? The tone of it sounds good it's just too clean. What about a ceramic magnet swap? Other thoughts?

the bridge cold sweat works pretty well with graphic or parametric equalizers as mid boosters
the neck pup is pretty clean indeed
perhaps a neck painkiller might work better for you

What sort of guitar is it and what sort of sounds and tones are you trying to get from it?
As Eric says can't you just boost it with an overdrive pedal?

Dunno about a magnet swap but I once had an alder super strat with a cold sweat neck and needed 'more power' and swapped to the aftermath neck which worked an absolute treat.  The cold sweat neck is more versatile but under hi gain in the right guitar the aftermath neck was the sex.
