Does the Black Dog work with a 250k pot
« on: December 18, 2015, 08:35:21 AM »
I currently have a spare Black Dog.
I kinda liked it in my Goldtop, but I put the Suhr Doug Aldrich in it, since that came out of my PRS Singlecut when I replaced it with a C-Bomb.

So I was thinking of converting my Strat to a HSS strat. But I dont want to invest too much in new pots and switches and all. All I really want to do is buy a new pickguard and move the single coils and electronics over.

Does it work with a 250k pot, or will it loose too many highs?

thnx

For sure it will sound a bit darker. I would go for a 500k pot. It won't hurt your bankaccount.

The BD has a certain brightness to the top end. I don't think it would be that dark on a brighter strat with 250K.

Try it and see.

I had the Black Dog in a strat one time, and I used a 250k pot. In that particular guitar it worked OK.

If you are going to order a HSS pickguard anyway why not also order a 500k pot - not much more $$$ and you pay for shipping only once.
