Our dealer called me on Friday that they got their BK shipment and my raw nickel Nailbomb arrived. Although I got home tired to death after 10 PM, I installed it on my Strat right away. Ash body, 1 Meg volume control, no tone pot, blocked steel tremolo, Dunlop 6000's and 11' strings -- it was quite a tight sounding guitar with a little bit rounded highs and deep bass (due to the heavy strings), so I got the NB to benefit from that tightness and give the mids some depth.
GREAT pickup! After the many NB clips here I was afraid that it wouldn't have enough bass and the mids would be overly grainy, but I was sooo wrong. Nailbomb + my Strat = a match made in heaven! :D There's a Dmz VirtuAL 2 Middle in the neck position -- in the middle position of the switch I get a hollow (out-of-phase) sound that's great for funk because it's like having an auto-wah on.
I won't rave about the tone and versatility of the NB because you already know what a great pickup it is. I'll rather make some clips, I don't know yet when I'll have time for that, though.
I just want to thank the BKP staff for transforming my "very nice" Strat into a "killer tone machine". 8) The raw nickel cover looks really "elegant", which I like very much.
