Black Dog vs Pig 90 bridge comparison
« on: March 17, 2016, 02:18:19 PM »
I've been experimenting with pickups in all my guitars so I thought I'd knock up a quick clip to show the difference in tone between the Black Dog and Pig 90. Not exactly 2 pickups you'd normally pit against each other I guess but it's what I have! The guitar is a Pearl all-mahogany LP Custom, the amp is a Laney GH50L. First is the Black Dog then around the 38 second mark the Pig 90 playing the same riffs.

I reckon the BD sounds a bit better for your typical rock sound but I like the tone of the Pig 90 as well. I think the BD has crunch whilst the Pig 90 has a really cool sounding grind, that's the best way I can put it! The Pig 90 has a really nice stoner rock vibe, though it sounds a bit darker and muddier. Definitely sounds better in this than in my SG which it sounded odd in to me. Currently have my SG with the stock 498t in it but I might put the Black Dog back in as I did like it in that and I'm missing the BK clarity in that guitar!
